DANCE OF SPIRITS
DANCING BODIES OF THE INDIAN OCEAN
#2
"Dance of spirits" is a videodance creation, animated live from dancing bodies from the Indian Ocean.
By involving a double digital video device, in real shot and in real time, in the creative process, Marianne Louise Lebon questions the place of the "Spirit" of the dancer placed in a polysemic plastic environment. The exploration of the visual artist's own internal sensations (kinesthesia) is the starting point of an animated art, constantly in balance between the memory and the imagination of the danced movement.
The use of digital, blurring the boundaries between dance performance and animated image, makes us witness a new expression of dance.

The Sacred, the Spirit is a central theme in current heritage choreographic creation, whether it refers to traditional or contemporary writing, on the scale of the professional dancer as well as that of the amateur dancer. For this project, Marianne ML led a remote workshop with Sr Dance in Mauritius in order to grasp the figure of young dancers.
Capture, in other words, their "dancing body", this moment when the imagination of the dancer in action goes beyond his own body in dance/trance. Furtive moment that can only be fixed by a device allowing us to affirm a kinesthetic meeting point between our imaginations. The title of this project is obviously subject to questioning: a reminder/wink of the dances of the spirits of a religious nature, it is actually a question of presenting a contemporary state of mind where the individual affirms himself beyond the disappearance of his own body in the digital image.
